HISTORY

As early as October 1959, the newly founded Wartungs- und Prüfungsdienst GmbH in Germany began offering its innovative service: the mobile testing and adjustment of permanently installed volume meters for liquids was born. The mineral oil industry, mineral oil traders, ship and tank truck loading stations, aviation fuelling stations, filling stations and tank truck operators were, and still are, our partners (to this day WPD has no “customers”). They all depend on the high measurement stability and reliable operation of their installed measuring systems.

The great advantage – testing the measuring system on site, in its installed state, with mobile test vehicles – very quickly proved to be a cost-effective solution requiring little effort from the operator. Long downtimes and the complicated removal of volume meters were no longer necessary. With versatile universal test vehicles, all volume meters could be tested quickly and reliably on site.

From these beginnings grew the largest mobile service company of its kind in Europe. The branch at the chemical site in Leuna was established in 1996, and WPD-AUSTRIA was founded in 2005. Today the WPD Group employs 60 staff who are out on customer service assignments throughout Europe every day.
